While the Red Sox trailed the entire season, they never wavered in their quest for the title. Today, Marty and his family live in Lafayette, but he’s just as die-hard a baseball fan as ever. In fact, he makes an annual pilgrimage with his son Kyle to visit a different major league ball park each year. Even his “RD SOX 67” license plate reflects his enduring love for the sport. But for Marty, one of his greatest inspirations will always be his daughter Noelle. Two days after she was born she underwent experimental heart and lung bypass surgery and was given a 15 percent chance to live. “I like to call her my own ‘Impossible Dream,’ says Marty with pride. “I’ve always been optimistic, but that experience only strengthened my belief that every dream is possible in life.”
